ZIPX file type

A ZIPX file is an Extended Zip file. It is similar to the ZIP-archive but compressed with an advanced technology created by CorelWinZip. A .ZIPX file can contain more than one file compressed with the help of Zipx method. Such a file will be smaller than the .ZIP file with the same content.

The Extended Zip format was developed in 2009 by CorelWinZip. A ZIPX file includes metadata that displays what compression method was used for this very file. That's how a user can find out what compression tool to use to open a compressed file. To work with the ZIPX file, you can use, for example, WinZip 12.1 or PeaZip. 

NOTE: To open a ZIPX file, you will need WinZip 12.1 or later versions.
