NOMEDIA file type
You can find the NOMEDIA file on your Android phone or tablet. Also, you may find that file on a flash media drive or a USB stick that you used on your Android device. The NOMEDIA file in the folder informs multimedia players that there are no files to index and scan. Also, it doesn’t have a name, only an extension .nomedia.
With NOMEDIA files, you gain an increase in performance as it prevents unnecessary scanning and indexing. For instance, if there are folders with a considerable number of media like songs or images, you can exclude them. Moreover, putting the NOMEDIA file in the ads folder will hide ads that appear in free applications. A lot of Android media players and gallery apps are familiar with this file, including Gallery, MP3 Player, Video Player, and so forth.
