Ableton Live is designed for live performances, as well as recording, composing, and mixing music. It is available in three different editions: Intro, Standard, and Suite. Although the three editions are identical, Suite and Standard include additional effects, packs, and features.

Along with its library of instruments and effects, Ableton Live enables nondestructive editing and unlimited undos, which allows you to endlessly tweak your music to perfection. Dual monitors allow you to work faster and view both the arrangement and session simultaneously. The suite can be extended to allow you to add additional plugins such as samplers or amps if you are not satisfied with the provided instruments and effects.

Ableton Live is a suite of tools that musicians and DJs use to create live music. However, it can also be used to mix, arrange, and record music. Although it is expensive, it is well worth the investment if you are an OS X user who needs a professional DAW.
