Description
Adobe Acrobat Reader is a free program that allows users to view, search, sign, annotate, and print PDF documents. Unlike Adobe Acrobat DC, which is the commercial version of Adobe Acrobat Reader, the program cannot be used to create or edit PDFs. Acrobat Reader was previously known as Adobe Reader.
Acrobat Reader is primarily used to view PDF files but also comes with several helpful tools for working with PDF files. You can annotate documents by adding or highlighting text, drawing shapes, and adding sticky notes or stamps. You can also sign documents using a pen or a pencil, measure the area and distance of objects in documents, or share them with others to be reviewed or viewed. Acrobat Reader also allows you to conveniently add tools not included in the software directly from the Tools window in the program.
Acrobat Reader can be used to implement restrictions on PDF files. Restrictions either allow or disallow permissions such as printing, content copying, page extraction, commenting, filling of form fields, and signing. Acrobat Reader users are given permissions only if they have been set by the document creator. The program also implements password protection for PDF files that require a password before viewing a document.
Acrobat Reader is a very useful application for viewing PDF documents. It is available on over twenty platforms and in over twenty-five languages, and over 500 million copies have been distributed to date. Whether it is for personal or professional use, Adobe Acrobat Reader is a great option for viewing all sorts of documents that have been published in PDF format.
