Description
Apple TextEdit is an open-source text editor that comes with Mac OS X. It is a simple program useful for reading and editing text documents.
TextEdit reads and writes .RTF files, which use the Rich Text Format. This format supports different text attributes, such as alignment, font, style, color, highlighting, and size. TextEdit allows you insert graphic, video and audio files into a document. It also converts the document to RTFD (Rich Text Format With Graphics) and the file extension .RTFD. TextEdit can read and write different character codes, including Unicode (UTF-8 & UTF-16), Western (Mac OS Roman), Traditional Chinese (Mac OS), and others. TextEdit can also open popular text formats such as Open XML format used in Microsoft Word, OpenDocument Text format used Apache OpenOffice and LibreOffice, and the OpenDocument Text format used for LibreOffice and LibreOffice.
Apple TextEdit is a text editor that can be used on any Mac. It can open a variety of text file formats, including RTF or Open XML. TextEdit is a great option for editing and reading text files, even though it might not look very attractive.
