Description

Avid Xpress is a video editing program that was commonly used by professionals in the TV and movie industry. Although it originally could only edit standard definition video, an update added support for high definition. It was available for Mac and Windows, but it did not work with Windows Vista.

Xpress uses non-linear editing unlike many other major video editors such as Apple Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere. Non-destructive editing means that the changes you make to a video clip are not applied directly, but are saved in memory. Non-linear editing also allows you to make changes on the fly as opposed to scrubbing through a timeline to find certain points. This allows you to experiment with video without worrying about ruining your entire project.

Xpress is non-linear and has similar features to other professional video editors, including special effects. You can apply special effects to your video such as cropping, color correction, blur, and others. You can also overlay titles on your video and add effects like transition. More effects can be added to the program using plug-ins.

Avid Xpress is not recommended for beginners to video editing. It has a steep learning curve. Because it processes video information, it requires high-performance computer hardware. If you are interested in using a program like Xpress you might have better luck with its sucessor, Avid Media Composer, since it is still supported.
