DT Soft DAEMON Tools is a Windows and OS X utility used to emulate virtual drives and create CD and DVD disc images. There are several editions of the software, including Ultra, Lite Pro Standard, Pro Advanced and Net, as well as Tools for Mac.

The Pro Advanced edition includes all DAEMON Tools (DT), features. You can mount disc image formats such as MDX (proprietary), ISO, BIN and ISZ to a virtual drive. This includes VMDK, VHD and ZIP files. You can also convert images from the supported formats to MDX, ISO, or MDF/MDS formats and you can make CD, DVD, and Blu-ray discs from MDF/MDS, ISO, or MDX images.

The program enables you to create compressed disc images or split an image into several files. If you have important data that needs advanced security, the application allows you to make password-protected TrueCrypt images. As far as virtualization goes, the software allows you to create up to 16 virtual HDD devices, emulate up to 32 DT and SCSI devices, and use 4 virtual IDE devices.

DAEMON Tools can be used by both novice and experienced users. The software offers advanced tools for virtual drive emulator and management of disc images formats, depending on which edition you're using. DT Soft DAEMON Tools is a great tool for Windows users. However, OS X users should not be disappointed by the lack of comparable tools and should look elsewhere.
