Description

Lionhead Studios Black & White is a Windows and OS X game where players act as gods to control villages. It was created by Lionhead Studios, and published in 2001 by Electronic Arts and Feral Interactive.

The game places you as a god newly created by prayers from a family. You rule over an island inhabited by several tribes, performing miracles and moving people or objects in order to get them to believe in and submit to you. Another element of gameplay is your Creature, which acts similar to a pet that can be trained to serve as your avatar in the world. You can use your Creature to battle with gods from other land to steal their followers. The game's main purpose is to show the struggle between good & evil and the consequences this has on a world.

When it was first released in 2000, the game received almost universal acclaim. It has also received some backlash over time as the game is often listed as overrated. Regardless of critics' takes, Lionhead Studios Black & White delivers what it promises as it lets you navigate the complex struggle between good and evil.
