Description
Mozilla Thunderbird is an email, chat, news and feed application that is free. It allows you to manage and chat with other users and subscribe to news and blogs.
Thunderbird allows you to manage multiple email accounts and create multiple identities within each account. The client supports IMAP and POP3 servers, and partially supports Microsoft Exchange Server. Thunderbird offers tools such as message filtering and quick search. It also allows you to group messages together to organize your email. The program lets you set up chat accounts through Facebook Chat, Google Talk, Twitter, IRC, and XMPP chat networks. You can also subscribe to your favorite blogs and news feeds using the application. Thunderbird is also extensible. Thunderbird supports add-ons to improve the functionality of the application. These include calendars and interface-altering themes.
Mozilla dropped support for Thunderbird in 2012, but it is still open for development by users. Depending on the platform you use, there are better desktop email clients available. Windows Live Mail and Mac OS X Mail are better options than Thunderbird but if you are a Linux user, you may want to go with Mozilla Thunderbird.
