Description
Neat is an OS X program that converts paper documents into digital files. It can be used for sharing and organization with other users and applications. The software comes bundled with the purchase of NeatReceipts (portable scanner), NeatDesk (desktop scanner), and NeatConnect (Wi-Fi scanner). The Neat desktop software was discontinued in 2016.
The software enables you to scan documents such as receipts, business cards, and invoices, as well as import PDF and image files or forward emails and attached files directly to your Neat account. After you import the files, Neat's Indocument Identification technology (ID2) extracts words from your documents and converts them into usable information. It recognizes the document and captures the appropriate information such as contact and purchase information.
Neat stores your documents in its cloud and allows you to access them from anywhere. Your confidential data is not at risk as the imported files are protected with the same encryption banks use to protect customer information. You can quickly send your data to other accounting and business applications like TurboTax and QuickBooks, H&R Block and Excel.
Neat is used by casual and business users to digitize their paper documents, make modifications to them, and organize them in cloud storage. The software is especially useful for small business owners looking to gather their documents in one digital and secure place. While there are some limitations, such as the limit on the number of pages per job that Neat can handle, it is a solid choice if you want to organize your documents in an easy-to-use place.
