Description

Cenon, a collection open-source applications for vector graphics design and desktop publishing, is part of the vhf interservice Cenon. It is available for OS X and Linux.

Cenon can be used for converting vector graphics, vector design, and publishing. The software allows you to import and edit a variety of graphics formats including DXF, SVG, Adobe Illustrator, Gerber, HPGL, JPEG, TIFF, PNG, and PostScript. Cenon offers a variety of editing functions, including lines, arcs and curves, text, threads and poly-lines.

Cenon supports modules such as CAM or Astro that act as plugins and provide additional functionality. Cenon can be transformed by the CAM module (which must be purchased) into a tool that can be used to manufacture on CNC machines like routers, engraving machines and milling machines. The Astro module provides astrology mapping and charting tools.

Cenon was first released in the early 1990s and has come along way in its capabilities. It is used for a variety of purposes such as creating brochures, business cards, banners, and logos. The CAM and Astro modules can further enhance its capabilities. Although vhf Interservice Cenon is a useful, free program, there are many more capable applications for vector graphics design and desktop publication if you're willing to spend some money.
