Description

Adobe Flash is a tool for authoring multimedia and interactive content. Flash animations are often used on websites for navigation menus, advertisements, video playback interfaces and online games. Flash supports vector graphics and raster graphics. Flash can also be scripted with the ActionScript programming language. Flash was renamed Adobe Animate in 2016.

Flash offers multiple views for source code editing, video, and graphics. The main document window includes a timeline and motion editor, which is used for creating and editing animation sequences. The tool palettes allow users to access project assets (e.g., video, image, and audio files), modify objects, and alter project settings. Flash offers tools to develop custom ActionScript code that can be used for interactive content creation. The code editor supports syntax highlighting and helps reduce development time with code collapse, comment tags, and code error navigation features. Flash provides a visual user interface that allows script editors to automatically complete syntax. It also provides an advanced debugger to manually step through code and identify script errors.

Flash allows users to control object motion. The motion editor supports object based animation. This allows you to apply tweening (interpolated, transitional frames) instead of keyframes. Flash supports Bezier Splines, which allow you to add curve-based object animations for individual object attributes. Flash also includes advanced motion features that allow you to animate 2D objects in 3D space. You can also create chain-like animation effects using objects linked in a series. Flash Player can save animations as standalone .SWF files.

Adobe Flash is a good tool for web developers who create website advertisements and online videos. It is also useful for multimedia producers, who create online games or other media-rich Internet apps. If you fall into either of these categories, you should try Adobe Flash.
