Description
Adobe FreeHand was a vector graphic editing program similar to Illustrator, another Adobe program. Adobe stopped developing the program shortly after it was acquired by Adobe. This was done in an effort to migrate FreeHand users to Illustrator.
FreeHand was used frequently by illustrators, web content creators, and publishers. FreeHand's page layout and text formatting capabilities made it easy to design publications efficiently. It is still available for purchase in its final version, both for Mac and Windows.
FreeHand had many useful features that made it a powerful design tool. It utilized a graphic wand tool to quickly select objects and a lasso tool to select areas based on the user's selection. It also had many exporting options including the ability to export to HTML, Flash, and Photoshop documents.
If you wish to see Adobe start developing the program again, there is a group called the Free FreeHand Organization that is petitioning to have it be continued. Illustrator is a good choice for those who don't care much about FreeHand but still want to create vector graphics.
