MAGIX VEGAS (formerly Sony Vegas) is a video and audio editing application for Windows. You can choose from Pro Edit, Pro Suite, or Pro Edit versions. Each version offers more advanced features. VEGAS was originally developed by Sony, before being acquired in 2016 by MAGIX.

VEGAS supports many popular camcorder formats such as AVCHD and XAVC, XDCAM and DSLR h.264 Quicktime. You can also import and export audio and video to formats compatible with Avid Pro Tools and Apple Final Cut, Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects. VEGAS features nondestructive editing and provides an array of tools for editing SD, HD, 2K, and 4K video. You can customize the editing workspace to reflect your work preferences. It also features a multi-tool paradigm which organizes commonly used tools in a pop up menu.

The audio editing side of VEGAS provides high resolution 24-bit/192 kHz audio recording and playback, 5.1 surround mixing, punch-in recording, and time compression/expansion. To maximize your audio dynamic range, you can adjust your audio with real-time effects like delay, EQ, and reverb. Finally, the VEGAS Pro Connect app for iPad allows collaborators to jointly control and comment on projects and drop frame-accurate markers and notes into the timeline for direct project feedback.

VEGAS is a powerful audio and video editing program that is used primarily by professionals for newscasts and movies. The software supports many popular camcorder formats and video editing project formats and provides many video and audio editing capabilities. Although it is not as widely used as Avid Media Composer or Adobe Premiere Pro, MAGIX VEGAS is a capable and affordable alternative.
